Southern Shot CTL Thinning
Field work will be conducted in an approximately 17-hectare forested thinning unit.
The site has an uphill access road, and a cut-to-length (CTL) thinning operation will be observed.
Most of the operation is expected to involve tether-assisted mechanized harvesting due to slope conditions.
Field activities may include walking through the unit, observing harvesting operations from safe locations,
collecting field notes, recording machine activity, and collecting or verifying spatial data such as tree locations,
operation layout, and access-road information. UAV/drone-based LiDAR or imagery data may also be collected before
and/or after the operation if conditions and permissions allow.
